OLPC XO Laptop

Last year the students in this course held a fundraiser to buy two XO Laptops.
These laptops have been designed for use by students in third world countries.
They are given to students to take home where in some cases they might be the only source of light. The class kept one laptop and the other was donated to the OLPC Program.

The XO contains many innvoative features such as daylight visible screen, a flash drive, mesh networking, and a large collection of pre-installed software.

Practice xD

Today at practice we had to make a hip hop dance routine for our pep rally. It was actually fun haha... we have a part in our routine where we all "Jerk" (a dance - Jerking) and at first everyone looked... bad... BUT we all got it eventually. If you're at Notre Dame High School in Vancouver, be sure to support our dance team when we perform... i think the rally is on the 30th? it's for archbishops cup btw! GO JUGGLERS!!

Texting Polls

What was asked of us was "Does anyone have a cellphone?"
reluctantly we've denied but we did admit to having it in our possession
Next we were asked to go our gmail inbox and open various links from: www.polleverywhere.com/
and then we texted our answer either if we did one certain thing or not. For example, "I will have an H1N1 vaccination" and the choices were Yes, No, or Not Sure. Immediately, once the text was sent, we see the polls increase/decrease depending on the answers. Although, some students did not have cell phones in their possession therefore could not participate in the voting.

If the cell phone was used for everyday classes to participate (voting, research, ect.), then the ban on cell phones within schools should be lifted. Although, students may have to change their plan to free texting in order to text freely

Artona

Yesterday we went to Artona for our grad pics
i wore a purple dress shirt with a white tie for action shots and then changed into a white dress shirt with a black tie, all from Internation at Metrotown in Burnaby. The action shot i took in the white room was a michael jackson toe freeze while swiping the coat back (R.I.P. MJ!). Also, for the group pictures i took with my friends Jackie, Ferdinand, and Elias... then later i took one with A LOT of people, i think about 16. The last shot that was taken is where we basically dogpiled on everyone crushing everyone! LOL everyone was screaming AHHH my chest! LOL

All in all, the pictures i took turned out awesome.

Sighh... graduation already

Another Post, For Another Day...

Today we visited Wolfram Alpha (http://www.wolframalpha.com/) where we inputted a number (ie. 256 binary) and found out the conversion from a decimal number to the binary code. My binary position within the ICT 12 class is 01010.

Also, we visited Google Analytics (www.google.com/analytics/), we signed up with our gmail account and added it to our blog. We added it by copying and pasting a code into our Google Analytics webcode.

Class Update

This posting is made in my ICT Class. In this course I am working with various programming languages, and presently I am exploring the legacy language Pascal. Some of the other languages I'll be working with include Python, Visual Basic, C++, and Java.

I have a school Google Aps e-mail address and a Gmail address. I need the Gmail address for some advanced Google Aps that aren't part of the education set.
